A LONG-STANDING PARTNERSHIP
Søren Jensen Consulting Engineers has served as house consultant to Egmont Folk High School since 1997.
Egmont Folk High School is one of Denmark’s largest folk high schools, with approximately 200 students with a wide range of disabilities and support needs, as well as 100 employees dedicated to supporting their journey towards independence and equal opportunities.
Depending on the nature of the individual projects, Søren Jensen has acted as client advisor, full-service consultant and engineering consultant, all while supporting the school's ongoing Operations.
TRANSFORMATIONS, REFURBISHMENTS AND NEW INITIATIVES
As the school was founded in 1956, there is a continuous need for modernisation and refurbishment projects.
This has included ongoing consultancy for the renovation of Education facilities, corridors, shared amenities and sanitary facilities.
The refurbishment works have also included replacement of water, heating, electrical and ventilation systems.
At the same time, the school continually seeks new facilities and technological solutions that can improve accessibility for its diverse user group.
Søren Jensen has provided consultancy for a wide range of these initiatives, including the large aquatic centre Vandhalla, the rehabilitation centre and the New build transition housing facilities designed to support students in developing independent living skills regardless of individual challenges.
SELECTED PROJECTS
- Student accommodation wings with different room types tailored to a variety of disabilities and support requirements
- Expansion of the industrial kitchen and dining facilities, including areas used for Education
- New build swimming facility, Vandhalla (5,500 m²), including rehabilitation and fitness centre, as well as a new entrance area
- Offices and staff facilities, including glazed roof structures above courtyards
- Ongoing sewer replacement and sewer separation projects
- Replacement of water, heating, electrical and ventilation systems across the entire campus
- Engineering consultancy for a major photovoltaic installation
- Development of fire strategies and emergency planning in connection with events
