TRANSFORMATION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE FUTURE
To accommodate increasing enrolment in vocational education programmes, Hansenberg has fully refurbished a former food production facility on C.F. Tietgens Vej in Kolding.
The establishment of new facilities has focused on creating modern and flexible learning environments that support vocational training. Throughout the project, particular attention has been given to the building’s many users and how the environment can best support them in developing successful careers.
Søren Jensen provided full-service consultancy, including engineering services as well as project, construction and design management. In addition, we delivered the architectural services for the project.
FROM WORN-OUT SALAD FACTORY TO FLEXIBLE EDUCATION FACILITIES
The project placed strong emphasis on flexibility, a healthy Indoor environment and functional surroundings that support both professional development and community in everyday student life.
The load-bearing structures were assessed and strengthened to accommodate new glazed sections and an updated layout. The roof was upgraded with additional insulation and adapted to incorporate rooflights and technical areas.
The building was remediated for PCB, asbestos and heavy metals, while the ground slab was insulated to reduce future energy consumption.
New heating, water and electrical systems were installed, and a hybrid ventilation system ensures a high-quality Indoor environment and stable temperatures. The system has been tailored to the building’s activities and operates in coordination with the workshop doors.
The result is an inspiring learning environment where students and teachers thrive, and where theory, practice and movement come together in functional and engaging surroundings.
PART OF A LONG-TERM FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT
The project forms part of a long-term framework agreement between Hansenberg and Søren Jensen, a Collaboration that dates back to 1995.
The agreement covers New build, Transformation and refurbishment projects across Hansenberg’s facilities in Kolding and has resulted in a wide range of successful developments over the years.
