A LANDMARK FOR SCIENCE COMMUNICATION
Anton Rosen’s iconic building and the surrounding observatory grounds are being transformed into a Science Park and a platform for communicating natural science of the highest quality in historic and scenic surroundings.
The observatory, designed by architect Anton Rosen and completed in 1911, was granted listed status in 2005. During the 1960s and 1970s, the building was maintained and refurbished using the construction methods and materials typical of the period.
The current Restoration project focuses on returning the building as closely as possible to its original architectural expression.
PRESERVING A VALUABLE HERITAGE
The refurbishment aims to strengthen the position of the Ole Rømer Observatory as an important part of the cultural heritage of both Aarhus and Aarhus University.
Through careful Restoration and conservation, the project ensures that the observatory can continue to serve future generations while preserving its unique architectural and historical significance.
