DESCRIPTION
CAREFULLY TRANSFORMED
Utzon House, originally designed by Jørn and Kim Utzon in 1987, was transformed in 2022 from a furniture showroom into a Working environment following Paustian’s relocation.
In close dialogue with the client, the refurbishment was carried out with great respect for the building’s historic character while implementing modern fire safety systems and sustainable solutions to minimise environmental impact and ensure long-term functionality.
To accommodate modern office functions, several structural modifications were undertaken, including strengthening of floor structures and refurbishment of window sections to improve ventilation and acoustics.
Natural ventilation was adopted as a fundamental design principle in order to create a healthy Indoor environment for the building’s approximately 200 daily users.
This Transformation demonstrates how modern engineering can preserve and repurpose iconic architecture in a sustainable manner without compromising the building’s original qualities and heritage.
